According to the National Institutes of Health, Nearly 1 in 5 adults in the US struggles with mental illness, and less than half receive any professional treatment for their condition, whether therapy or medication. For 1 in 4 of these adults, their mental illness causes severe functional impairment, in some cases resulting is profound disability. Among adolescents, nearly half will experience a mental health disorder between the ages of 13-18, and over 1 in 5 of these adolescents will have severe impairment. Anxiety, depression and other mood disorders don’t only impact emotions, energy and focus, they also amplify the risk and severity of physical illnesses through changes such as increased inflammation, abnormalities in stress hormones and changes in cardiovascular functioning. It is also true that physical illness, especially chronic illness, increases the risk of depression. The links between mental illness, chronic pain and addiction are particularly strong.
Whether or not you also struggle with addiction or chronic pain, at Triangle Wellness & Recovery PLLC, we are committed to treating your anxiety or mood disorder(s) in a holistic, compassionate, and trauma-informed manner. Our team utilizes evidence-based psychotherapy, skills training and biofeedback along with traditional and innovative pharmacotherapy including in-office ketamine treatments for clients with major depression that has not responded to first and second-line medications. New clients who are seeking pharmacotherapy or biofeedback should schedule an assessment with Dr. Koenig, or a combined assessment with Dr. Koenig and one of our therapists. Clients who are primarily seeking psychotherapy are welcome to schedule a behavioral health assessment with one of our therapists or a combined assessment, depending on their goals.
