Ian Collins, LCSW
Clinical Director
Ian Collins is a licensed psychotherapist with over a decade of experience treating individuals, couples and families struggling with mental health and substance use disorders, in addition to autism spectrum disorders. He has worked with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings including outpatient clinics, university counseling centers, juvenile detention, group practices and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams. Prior to joining Triangle Wellness & Recovery PLLC, Ian worked with Dr. Koenig as clinical director for Ellenhorn’s Raleigh location. In this role Ian led a diverse team of clinicians and community support staff in providing an exceptional level of personalized care for individuals living with severe and persistent mental health disorders. Ian has also served as assistant director of a day program, and program manager of homeless services.
In joining Triangle Wellness and Recovery PLLC, Ian continues his commitment to a radically person-centered treatment approach and belief in the transformative potential of clinical care. He engages clients in a supportive, fun, and respectful manner, using his training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Open-Dialogue (OD), EMDR, and Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT). Ian is exceptionally skilled in helping clients navigate challenging familial and social relationships. In addition to psychotherapy Ian provides academic, personal and professional coaching to clients of Triangle Wellness and Recovery, PLLC.
Ian holds a Bachelor’s in Social Work from East Carolina University, where he was a nominee for the Distinguished Alumni Award, and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Maryland. Before completing his formal education, Ian was a touring musician, and recorded and released five studio albums. He is the co-founder of a mobile application that assists the homeless and underserved populations of New York City, called HelpFinder NYC.
