ABOUT
Rachel Palermo (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from Louisiana, specializing in clinical and case management services since 2017 across various settings, including intensive outpatient programs, inpatient hospitals, schools, and individual therapy. With experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations, Rachel brings a wealth of knowledge to her practice.
Rachel earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from McNeese State University in 2017 and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from The University of Memphis in 2019.
Additionally, Rachel is a level 1 eco-therapist, a designation she pursued through the Earth-Body Institute, motivated by her experiences with ecological grief during major hurricanes in her home state. This connection to nature informs her therapeutic approach, as she often incorporates it as an ally in the healing process. A deep mind-body- earth connection.
Rachel’s areas of focus include grief, trauma, anxiety disorders, and depression. She employs various evidence-based modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Polyvagal Theory, and Eco-therapy.
Rachel’s sense of curiosity allows her to highlight client strengths, fostering a supportive environment where healing can take place. Her trauma-informed approach emphasizes safety, choice, collaboration, and empowerment, introducing clients to coping strategies that enhance resilience.
When we are going through a great change within ourselves, we tend to mirror a seed. Before a seed can sprout it must first break open. It then must trust the light and have a nurturing environment for continued growth. Through meaningful connection, we often find that light and a loving environment. Rachel’s passion for group work is because of this connection. It is powerful to feel seen and heard by others in times of turmoil.
Rachel is a LGBTQ affirming and climate change aware therapist. Outside of her professional life, Rachel enjoys rock climbing, biking, playing with her dog, and spending quality time with loved ones.
